Happy New Year!

May the new year bring a lot of joy, happiness, blessings and fulfilled dreams to you and your loved ones! I wish the world to be kinder, understanding and open hearted and open minded to everyone regardless of differences. May there be light in our souls and may kindness win more often!

In this regard, I chose for the first post of the new year a wonderful picture of a holiday by the artist Konstantin Somov. Despite his Russian origin in years of strong abolishment of homosexuality, he founded a club where freedom of thought is celebrated, poetry is read, costumes from previous eras of his design and craftsmanship are worn, paintings are drawn together and beauty in all its dimensions is praised. In many ways, this small circle of friends gave a strong start to the life of artists in Russia and later in the rest of the art world. The way Somov chooses to depict his models is heavily influenced by Rococo and antique art. He brought a lot of color and tenderness to the paintings of his models, which many artists later followed as an example.
