I wanted to paint something with my brighter colours, so I thought about autumn trees and the way their leaves change. It has a serene feeling of the tiny houses hidden in the forest and I imagine the sounds little streams make while looking at it. Many of my paintings are much lighter in value, but I had fun creating this colourful landscape on a darker background. The trees were made with a lot of paint brought to the canvas with a palette knife, so it is full of a lot of texture which reflects light and makes it entertaining to look at.
